The Music Teacher position is a full-time teaching position responsible for teaching music courses to scholars in grades K-6. We are seeking a high-capacity, fiercely positive, and growth-oriented enrichment teacher to lead our Scholars in Music education. All Monroe Charter Academy teachers are accountable for the intellectual preparation for each lesson, building strong and positive relationships with students and families, using data to tailor their instruction, and actively engaging in collaboration with their colleagues

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Effectively builds positive and healthy relationships with students, families, and colleagues.

• Ability to create and sustain a positive and healthy classroom environment using high expectations.

• Create units and lessons that are aligned to Classical Education, NCSCS, purposeful, and clear.

• Effectively implement research-based teaching methods and strategies including, but not limited to differentiation, small group instruction, flexible grouping, project-based learning.

• Integrate Classical Education Philosophy studies into units and lessons.

• Conduct formal and informal assessments on a biweekly basis using the data to inform instruction.

• Strong understanding of the NC Standards for their content and the ability to create plans aligned to the standards.

• Evaluate the needs of students and adjust material and instruction accordingly.

• Create personalized learning plans to address the individual needs of the students.

• Create opportunities that allow students to thoughtfully discuss, reflect and critique information.

• Adapt teaching styles and methods to meet the individual needs of all students.

• Maintains evidence of student learning and progress through records and data.

• Work closely with Support Staff and Administrators by using regular and ongoing communication about students’ academic, social, and emotional progress.

• Coachable with quickness and willingness to implement changes.
